Women's Tennis Seeded Eighth

BOULDER - The Colorado women's tennis team will be the number eight seed and will play number nine Kansas this Thursday, April 24 at the 2003 Big 12 Conference Tennis Tournament in Kansas City. The match will be one of four first round matches and will begin at 11 a.m.
The women's tournament will be played April 24-27 at the Plaza Tennis Center and will feature 12 teams with defending champion Texas as the number three seed. If Colorado defeats the Jayhawks, the Buffaloes will play top-seeded Baylor on Friday, April 25 at 9 a.m.
The Buffaloes (12-7) enter the tournament with momentum after knocking off No. 24 Oklahoma, 4-3, last Saturday at home and boast an impressive underclassmen lineup at the No. 4 through No. 6 slots that generated a 41-14 spring record. Sophomore Kendra Strandemo has won six of her last seven matches at No. 4 (13-2); freshman Jessica Vanderdys, three of her last four at No. 5 (10-2); and junior Morgan Sall, the Big 12 Player of the Week (April 8) has tallied 11 of her last 13 matches at No. 6 (12-4). Sophomore Katherine Anne Lutgert, plays the No. 2 slot (5-4) and has won her last three in a row and four of her last six.
For the spring, Sall and Strandemo are 22-9 for the season, while seniors Dominique Lemperle and Lia Dimingo are constant mainstays over the last four years with 65 and 55 wins, respectively over their singles careers.
