FOUR BUFFS, BARNETT AT HULA BOWL

BOULDER - In October, University of
Colorado football coach Gary Barnett agreed to
serve as an assistant coach for the Hula Bowl this week in Maui,
with senior linebacker Sean Tufts joining him as
an initial invitee in November. Over the weekend, three other
Buffaloes were invited to help fill vacant roster spots.
Joining Barnett and Tufts are wide receiver D.J.
Hackett, free safety Medford Moorer and
defensive end Gabe Nyenhuis. It's the most
players CU will have in the game since 1997, when five Buffs
participated; it brings the total to 25 Colorado players in the
Hula Bowl dating back to 1995.
In addition, CU director of equipment Mike Smith
is working his fifth Hula Bowl as the game-week director of
operations. The game will be played this Saturday, January
17, with kickoff set for 6 p.m.
So far, six Buffaloes have or will play in postseason all-star
games; no Colorado players have been invited to the Senior Bowl,
but game officials are finalizing rosters and there is an outside
chance a CU player could be added to the game. Otherwise,
Hackett and wide receiver Derek McCoy will play in the Villages
Gridiron Classic on January 31. The list of postseason
Buffs:
WR D.J. HACKETT (Hula Bowl, Villages
Gridiron Classic)
