TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ? The University of Colorado men’s tennis continued to shine this fall season with a strong showing at the Crimson Tide Fall Championship this past weekend hosted by the University of Alabama. The three-day event from Oct 29-31 featured 18 teams from across the nation. Junior Marko Bundalo and sophomore Marek Dvorak each rallied after falling in their respective singles flights to each win their consolation brackets.

“Overall the guys won a lot of matches against very good opposition; their showing development as a team against the rest of the country,” said CU head coach Sam Winterbotham.  “Marko (Bundalo) beat two ranked opponents on his way to win the backdraw final. He controlled the match from the start and it was great to see his development and the confidence against this caliber of play.  Marek also came back from the main draw. He won a lot of matches this weekend and we’re excited what he’s trying to do.”

Bundalo lost his Flight A first round match only to rebound and win four straight in the Consolation West Draw. Along the way, Bundalo defeated two nationally ranked players in No. 45 and second seed David Canudas of Southern Mississippi in the consolation semifinal, in addition to fifth seeded and No. 78 Eric Hechtman of Miami in the consolation finals.

Dvorak was equally impressive going 1-1 in his main draw singles bracket, then came storming back to win three consecutive matches to take the Flight B Consolation North Draw.

Sophomore Marcos Digliodo performed better than anyone on the CU team during the weekend advancing to the Flight B semifinal. Digliodo, seeded fourth, won two of his three matches in three sets.

During the fall season, Bundalo ends the season with a team best 11 victories, followed by Digliodo with 10, and Dvorak with nine.
