TERRE HAUTE, Ind. ? University of Colorado head cross country Mark Wetmore was named the NCAA Mountain Region Men’s and Women’s Coach of the Year and senior Renee Metivier was named the Mountain Region Women’s Athlete of the Year, presented here Saturday night at the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships Banquet.

Wetmore’s coach of the year honors are the seventh and eighth, respectively, as he has been the men’s region coach of the year on six occasions, and women’s coach of the year twice.  The Colorado men and women swept the NCAA Mountain Region titles last weekend in Fort Collins, Colo.  It was the men’s 11th win in the qualifying race in 13 seasons and the women’s fourth in 11.

Metivier won the women’s individual title in last weekend’s race, the fourth for a Buff in six seasons.  It was her fourth win of the season, improving her season-long unbeaten streak to 553-0, making her one of two unbeaten runners entering Monday’s national championship race.

The NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships will be run Monday, Nov. 22nd here on the LaVern-Gibson Cross Country Course at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center.  While Metivier is a contender for the women’s individual crown, so are CU’s third-ranked women’s and fourth-ranked men for the team title.
