CORVALLIS, Ore. ? With a 2-1 record on the young 2004-05 season, the University of Colorado men’s basketball team takes to the road for its second road trip of the season against a pair of Pacific-10 opponents, Oregon State and California. Both schools appeared on last year’s slate in Boulder with the Buffaloes taking convincing wins over the Beavers (81-66) and the Bears (78-60), respectively.

Both match ups this weekend will be televised on Fox Sports Net. CU plays Oregon State, Saturday, Dec. 4 at 2:30 p.m. (MST.) and at California, Tuesday, Dec. 7, 8 p.m. (MST.).

Freshman guard Richard Roby is the team’s leading scorer (17.7 ppg.) along with a team-best .525 (21-of-40) shooting percentage from the field. Junior-transfer Julius Ashby is second in scoring (10.3 ppg.), first in rebounding (8.2 rpg.) and blocked shots (3.3), while junior forward Chris Copeland is third in scoring (10.0 ppg.).

This is the second meeting in as many years with the Beavers as both teams complete the home- and-home-series. Last season, CU made it five wins in a row over OSU taking a come-from-behind 81-66 win in Boulder back on Dec. 1.  Jayson Obazuaye is the lone player returning who scored in double figures (10 points) for the Buffs in their season home opener after trailing at the break.

Oregon State returns 11 letterwinners from its 12-16 team a year ago that finished ninth in the Pac-10. OSU won 11 of its games at home last year and head coach Jay John enters his third year and brings a 28-33 record into Saturday’s game. The Beavers are 3-2 with victories over Siena (69-67), Elon (65-55), and Portland (66-63).

Colorado will be without the services of junior forward Andy Osborn, who suffered a mid-foot sprain, tearing the ligament between the first and second metatarsal at Thursday’s practice. He is expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks.
