FORT WORTH, TEXAS  - The University of Colorado men’s tennis team ended its two-game road trip in Texas losing to the No. 13 Texas Christian Horned Frogs, 5-2, Sunday afternoon. The Buffs are now 4-2 overall and 0-1 in the Big 12 conference after Friday’s 7-0 setback to No. 5 Baylor.

“Today was a very good learning experience,” said CU head coach Sam Winterbotham. “Marek (Dvorak) and Peter (Bjork) were the two bright spots today. Marek improved from the Baylor match and stepped up today; Peter played a guy (Hector Almada) that was No. 1 at Fresno State and ranked in the top 100, and broke him down emotionally.”

The Buffaloes’ two wins against the Horned Frogs came from freshmen Peter Bjork and Marek Dvorak.  Bjork, who recorded his first win this season at No. 3 singles, defeated Hector Almada 6-3, 3-2 (default).  Dvorak defeated Rafael Abreu 6-4, 6-1, and also recorded his first win this season at No. 5 singles.  Dvorak improves to 4-1 this spring, while Bjork is 3-1.

Elsewhere in singles play, Marko Bundalo played his first No. 1 singles match of the season, losing to Alex Menichini in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1. Marcus Digliodo, Chad Tsuda, and Elliot Quibell also fell in straight sets at the Nos. 2, 4, and 6 slots.

In doubles play, the Horned Frogs swept all three matches, but two of those matches ended in narrow 9-7 victories for TCU.  The duo of Digliodo and Tsuda fell to the No. 19 ranked team in the nation, while Bundalo and Evan Dixon also fell in a close decision.  Finally, at No. 3 doubles, Dvorak and Bjork were defeated, 8-2.

Colorado returns to action Monday, Feb. 23rd when they host Texas A&M at 1 p.m. (MST).
