MEN?S TENNIS FALLS TO NO. 9 TEXAS A&M, 5-2

BOULDER ? The Colorado men’s tennis team dropped their third consecutive match, falling to No. 9 Texas A&M, 5-2, Monday afternoon at the Harvest House. The loss was the third straight to a trio of ranked teams among the Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll (No. 5 Baylor, No. 13 TCU).

The Aggies (9-4, 2-0) took the early advantage winning the doubles points by 8-5 margins at No. 1 and No. 2, and an 8-6 at No. 3.

In singles, Texas A&M defended the top three slots in straight sets. Freshman Peter Bjork fell to the nation’s No. 17 player 6-4, 7-5(3) at No. 1 singles, and at No. 2, sophomore Marko Bundalo lost to the No. 19^th ranked player, 6-3, 6-3.

Sophomore Chad Tsuda lost a tough three-set match at No. 4, 5-7, 6-3, 6-2.

“The difference between the teams, they (Texas A&M) have been there before and the experience to know they can go for those shots,” said CU head coach Sam Winterbotham. “We got in those situations and competed hard, but we didn’t go after our shots.

“Texas A&M came into a hostile environment; the crowd was great and they didn’t fold, give credit to them.”

Colorado (4-3, 0-2) returns to action this Saturday traveling to New Mexico (Feb. 28). The Buffs will also play Boise State (Feb. 29) with both matches being played at Albuquerque.
