NO. 11 BUFFS HOST NEBRASKA
Colorado looks for its 20th straight home win over Nebraska on Wednesday when the Big 12 rivals play the first of two meetings this season.
The 11th-ranked Buffaloes (17-2, 6-1) have won 19 in a row over the Huskers in Boulder since an 85-60 loss on Feb. 13, 1985. Colorado has won seven straight in the series since February 2000, and is 35-17 all-time against Nebraska.
Colorado has been a strong defensive team this season, and that trend continued Saturday when it beat Missouri 68-66 on the road to extend its winning streak to five.
The Buffaloes forced the Tigers to miss 18 of 27 shots in the second half, and won on two free throws by Tera Bjorklund with 4.7 seconds remaining.
In its previous four Big 12 victories, Colorado held the opposition to fewer than 60 points. Its only league loss was a 76-69 defeat to then-No. 12 Kansas State on Jan. 10.
Before Christmas, Colorado had not held an opponent to fewer than 62 points. Since the holiday, only two teams in 10 games have scored more than 59 against the Buffaloes, who are 9-1 during that stretch.
Nebraska (14-5, 4-4) dropped out of the AP Top 25 on Monday after losing 82-59 to No. 3 Texas and 67-57 to No. 17 Baylor last week. The Huskers have lost three of their last four _ all to ranked teams.
Against Baylor on Saturday, the Huskers fell behind by 13 points in the second half before using a 10-0 run to cut the lead to 51-49 with just over eight minutes remaining. The Lady Bears, however, went on a 10-0 run of their own down the stretch to pull away.
The Buffaloes and Huskers meet again in Lincoln on March 3 in the regular-season finale for both teams.
