HARRISON NAMED TO 2004 ALL-BIG 12 FIRST TEAM

DALLAS ? University of Colorado junior David Harrison was named to the 2004 All-Big 12 First Team, announced the conference office. It’s the first first-team honor of any kind for a CU player since Jaquay Walls made the conference first team in 1999-2000. This is Harrison’s first conference honor of any kind since being a two-time honorable mention during his previous two years.
Other conference awards handed out this week in Dallas during the Big 12 Tournament include Harrison, earning first team accolades to the conference coaches team after being named to the honorable mention last season. Harrison, CU’s outstanding 7’0” center from Nashville, Tenn., is averaging 17.1 points, 8.8 rebound per game, along with being the conference leader in field goal percentage (.625) and blocked shots (2.81).
CU is the No. 4 seed in this year’s Big 12 Tournament in Dallas. The Buffaloes play No. 5 seed Texas Tech, Friday afternoon at 1:20 (mst.).
Colorado was also honored on the coaches’ second team with Michel Morandais. Morandais, a 6’5” guard from Guadeloupe, French West Indies, is fourth in conference scoring with 16.4 per game, along with being the Buffaloes team leader in assists for the last two years.
Blair Wilson, a 6’5” guard/forward from Broomfield, Colo., was listed as an honorable mention for the coaches’ team.
The Buffs were also honored in the conference’s specialty teams category with Harrison named to Big 12 All-Defense team, and senior Lamar Harris, 6’6” forward from Los Angeles to the All-Underrated Team. Harris is fifth in conference rebounding (8.6) and first in defensive rebounding (6.15).
In addition to the conference honors, Harrison was named to the District 8 U.S. Basketball Writers of America All-District Team.
