MEN?S TENNIS FALLS TO NO. 28 TEXAS, 6-1

The Buffs lost the doubles point for the ninth time in their last 10 competitions, as the Longhorns swept the doubles matches.
GÇ£They have very good doubles and that is an area we need to improve,GÇ¥ said CUGÇÖs coach Sam Winterbotham. GÇ£It is very hard to start off the match down 1-0 every time and we need to find a solution for that.GÇ¥
ColoradoGÇÖs lone point came from sophomore Chad Tsuda at No. 5 singles as he topped Longhorn senior Ryan Haymond 7-5, 6-3.
GÇ£I think that Chad (Tsuda) came out today and really took a step forward in terms of willing himself to win, and getting himself to play faster tennis,GÇ¥ said Winterbotham.
It was a close competition, as the meeting came down to extra sets in three singlesGÇÖ positions (No.2 through No. 4). Colorado had freshman competing against Texas seniors in all of the last matches being played.
GÇ£We competed with them. When it comes down to three matches left, they are all very close, and right now we are not swinging them in our favor,GÇ¥ said Winterbotham.
In the last match being played, Colorado freshman Peter Bjork dropped to senior Jose Zarhi at the No. 2 singleGÇÖs position, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4. At No. 3 singles freshman Buffalo Marcos Digliodo started ahead of senior Pete Stoer who rallied back to win 5-7, 6-4, 1-6. Freshman Marek Dvorak matched senior Jimmy Haney at No. 4, but Dvorak fell 1-6, 7-5, 1-6.
GÇ£(The freshman) are competing hard and giving us the effort required. I just feel that they are not handling the pressure well right now and that is something that they will all improve on in their careers,GÇ¥ Winterbotham.
The Buffaloes will travel to Virginia next week to face Virginia, for the first time in school history, on Monday and then they will take on Virginia Tech on Wednesday.
