SULLIVAN'S SPIKES: COUNTDOWN TO OPENING CEREMONIES
Welcome to Sullivan's Spikes!
Over the next few weeks U.S. Olympian Erik Sullivan, the newest
member of the Colorado volleyball coaching staff, will give an
insiders perspective on Team USA's quest for a gold medal in mens'
volleyball in Athens. An eight-year veteran of the US
National Team, Sullivan is competing with Team USA in his second
Olympic games.

We are back in the village!
We just returned from Syros, after six days of training and
relaxing. The environment there was just what our team
needed. We worked hard in practice but also had some time to enjoy
the Greek island atmosphere. The evening before we left, we
were able to scrimmage Greece in the venue we will be competing in.
We lost in five sets, but we were able to see the gym and
experience what its like to play a match there. We will have
another opportunity to scrimmage Greece there again, hopefully
helping us to build a comfort level there for when our pool play
matches begin (Sunday, Aug. 15).
The village is much more active now that more athletes have
arrived. It seems more like a city now. Greece has done
a very nice job with size of everything, from the village itself to
the cafeteria, nothing seems too crowded. Its easy to forget
that there are 11,500 athletes living here.
The excitment is begining to build now that we are only 2 days away
from opening cermonies!!
