COLORADO HOSTS NO. 13 TEXAS TECH SATURDAY

QUICKLY...The University of Colorado (7-6, 0-2 Big 12 Conference) will host No. 13 Texas Tech University (12-2, 3-0 Big 12) on Saturday, Jan. 15, at 7 p.m., at the Coors Events Conference Center in Boulder. The game will be broadcast live on Fox Sports Net-Rocky Mountain with Keith Bleyer providing the call and Sandy Williams on the color commentary. CU will also be hosting a donation drive on Saturday for the Red Cross relief efforts in the Tsunami-devestated region of Southeast Asia. Volunteers from the Red Cross and the CU staff will be stationed around the CECC to take donations.
BUFFS ON THE AIR...All Colorado womenGÇÖs basketball regular and post season games are broadcast live on KKZN AM 760, BoulderGÇÖs Progressive Talk station. Tim Smile will handle play by play duties and is joined by USA BasketballGÇÖs Carol Callan with the color commentary.
31ST SEASON...Colorado is in its 31st season of varsity womenGÇÖs basketball sporting an all-time record of 584-319 (.647). The Buffaloes have made 12 NCAA Tournament appearances, all since 1988, including six Sweet 16 appearances and three trips to the Elite Eight (1993, 1995 & 2002).
LEAGUE SEASON WELL UNDERWAY...Colorado will look to avoid its second three-game losing streak of the season when the Buffs take on the Red Raiders. The Buffs have dropped their first two Big 12 games after entering league play on a five-game winning streak. Both of ColoradoGÇÖs previous Big 12 opponents (Iowa State and Nebraska) remain unbeaten in league play at 3-0 and the Buffs will see the Big 12GÇÖs only other remaining unbeaten team in Texas Tech on Saturday. Sophomore forward Anna Nedovic leads a balanced CU scoring attack at 11.5 points per contest. Nedovic, who also posts a team-high 7.3 rebounds per game, is one of six Buffs averaging at least seven points per game. Senior point guard Veronica Johns-Richardson is averaging 10.9 points per contest and paces the Buffaloes in 3-point field goals (21), steals (27) and assists (39). The freshman duo of forward Jackie McFarland and center Kara Richards have nearly identical outputs, combining for 19.2 points and 11.5 rebounds per game. Richards, who has started all 13 games, has a team-best .536 shooting percentage and is averaging 10.4 points and 5.7 rebounds a contest. McFarland, a two-time Big 12 Rookie of the Week, is averaging 8.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. On the outside, sophomore Jasmina Ilic averages 8.8 points per game coming off a recent 15-point, nine-rebound performance against Nebraska. Junior shooting guard Whitney Law is sixth on the squad in the scoring column (7.1 ppg) and ranks fifth in the Big 12 in 3-point field-goal percentage at .433 (13x30).
