BOULDER ? The University of Colorado men’s tennis team officially begins its spring season on Saturday, Jan. 22 at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Mountain Region Team Championships at Boise State University. The Buffaloes also open the season as the No. 74th nationally ranked school according to the first ITA rankings issued Jan. 11 and will take on No. 33 New Mexico.

The Buffaloes seeded second will join UNLV (fourth seed), No. 33 New Mexico (three seed), and the host and No. 42 Boise State (top seed) at the Boas Indoor Facility in the four-team regional.

Although the men’s team failed to take home any individual titles at the ITA Mountain Region Championships last November, they did finish second overall out of 15 other schools to qualify and earn the No. 2 seed at this weekend’s tournament.

In addition to earning a national ranking for the first time for any CU team in at least a decade, the doubles team of Chad Tsuda and Marcos Digliodo also earned a CU first in quite some time by being named the No. 33rd ranked doubles team by the ITA.

After the Mountain Regional at Boise State, the CU men return home to host the University of Denver Pioneers at the Meadow Creek Country Club, Jan. 28 at 6 p.m. before hosting number one ranked and defending champion Baylor, Sunday, Jan. 30, 10 a.m. at the Harvest House, Millennium Hotel.
