Other final events that were run today included the women’s 3000-meter run, where Kristen Hoogheem placed fourth (11:30), and Erin Marston (11:30) fifth. The men’s distance medley relay team of Anthony Chiulli, Mark Ebert, Jason Zichterman and Daniel Kenney came in third with a time of 10:19. In the men’s mile, Michah Mosely (4:34) and Will Campbell (4:35) came in sixth and seventh respectively, and in men’s weight throw where Andy Passen placed ninth with a throw of 55-04, and Ryan Willis threw 42-03 placing him 15th. .
Friday’s preliminary events qualified many of the Buffs for Saturday’s finals. George Pincock will advance to the finals with the second fastest times in both the 200-meter (21.77) and 400-meter (48.82) dash. Other qualifiers include Jaclyn Sturm in the women’s 200-meter (26.04) and 400-meter (59.95), Mikalea Raddatz, Jackie Zeigle, and Kelly Shuma in the women’s 800-meter run, Eric Lee-O’Brian in the men’s 200-meter, and Nate Terry in the 400-meter run.
In the multi-events, senior Andrew Miller, competing in his first heptathlon, placed first in the high jump portion, and in the top five of the long jump (4th), shot put (4th) and 60-meter dash (5th). Senior Anna Magle participated in the pentathlon where she finished ninth in the 60-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, and third in the long jump.
The second, and final day of the Air Force Invitational, will be decided Saturday.
