COLORADO LOOKS TO UPSET BIG 12 LEADING WILDCATS

QUICKLY...The University of Colorado (8-9, 1-5 Big 12 Conference) will host #16 Kansas State University (15-3, 6-1 Big 12) on Saturday, Jan. 29, at 12 p.m. in the Coors Events Conference Center. The game will air live on Fox Sports Net.
BUFFS ON THE AIR...All Colorado womenGÇÖs basketball regular and post season games are broadcast live on KKZN AM 760, BoulderGÇÖs Progressive Talk station. Tim Smile will handle play by play duties and is joined by USA BasketballGÇÖs Carol Callan with the color commentary.
31ST SEASON...Colorado is in its 31st season of varsity womenGÇÖs basketball sporting an all-time record of 585-322 (.645). The Buffaloes have made 12 NCAA Tournament appearances, all since 1988, including six Sweet 16 appearances and three trips to the Elite Eight (1993, 1995 & 2002).
LEAGUE SEASON WELL UNDERWAY...After a much needed road win at Missouri last week, Colorado couldnGÇÖt quite keep the momentum going as the Buffs fell to Oklahoma State in overtime and Kansas in their last two outings. Colorado is 1-5 in the current league standings and is tied with Oklahoma State for 10th place, one-half game ahead of Missouri who is 1-6. Sophomore forward Anna Nedovic leads a balanced CU scoring attack at 10.9 points per contest. Nedovic, who also posts a team-high 6.9 rebounds per game, is one of six Buffs averaging at least six points per game. Senior point guard Veronica Johns-Richardson is averaging 9.7 points per contest and paces the Buffaloes in 3-point field goals (21), steals (34) and assists (48). The freshman duo of forward Jackie McFarland and center Kara Richards have nearly identical outputs, combining for 19.3 points and 11.8 rebounds per game. Richards, who has started all 16 games, is averaging 9.5 points and 5.5 rebounds a contest. McFarland, a two-time Big 12 Rookie of the Week, leads the Buffs in field-goal percentage (.492, 60x122) and is averaging 9.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. On the outside, sophomore Jasmina Ilic averages 8.8 points per game while junior Whitney Law is sixth on the squad in the scoring column at 6.4 points an outing.
BUFFS DROP CLOSE ONE TO KANSAS...Jackie McFarland posted her fourth career double-double, 13 points and 11 rebounds, but ColoradoGÇÖs comeback bid fell short as they dropped a 65-60 decision to Kansas, Tuesday night at the Coors Event Center.
Trailing by one at the half the Buffs fought valiantly but were brought down by the shooting of Erica Hallman, 18 points, and Crystal Kemp, 15 points and 15 boards, for Kansas (9-8, 2-4 Big 12).
McFarlandGÇÖs points were matched by teammate Jasmina Ilic with Anna Nedovic providing Colorado (8-9, 1-5 Big 12) with 12 more points and eight rebounds.
