SEATTLE ? In her first race since an NCAA cross country championship national runner-up finish two months ago, senior Renee Metivier won the women’s 3,000-m in an NCAA indoor automatic qualifying time of 9 minutes, 14.23 seconds at the University of Washington Invitational here Saturday.

Metivier edged Arizona State’s Courtney Inman by .36 seconds for the win and bragging rights to the Big 12 Conference’s leading time and second in the nation in the event.

The only other Buff to make the trip to the pacific northwest, Missouri-Rolla transfer Kate Hamera finished sixth in the women’s mile in 4:51.72 which also leads all Big 12 efforts in the early indoor season.  Former Buff Adam Goucher took the men’s 3,000-m run in 7:50.58.

Colorado will travel full squads, including those distance runners that competed in November’s NCAA Cross Country Championship titles sweep, to this Saturday’s (Feb. 5) Air Force Falcon Invitational.
