CU LOOKS TO STOP CYCLONES IN LEAGUE HOME OPENER SATURDAY

QUICKLY...The University of Colorado (7-5, 0-1 Big 12 Conference) will face Iowa State University (11-1,1-0 Big 12 Conference) on Saturday, Jan. 8, at 7 p.m., at the Coors Events Conference Center in Boulder.

31ST SEASON...Colorado is in its 31st season of varsity womenGÇÖs basketball sporting an all-time record of 584-318 (.647). The Buffaloes have made 12 NCAA Tournament appearances, all since 1988, including six Sweet 16 appearances and three trips to the Elite Eight (1993, 1995 & 2002).

BUFFS LOOKING UP...Despite the Buffs Big 12 opening loss to Nebraska, Colorado has answered an early December three-game losing streak to win five of its last six games. Sophomore forward Anna Nedovic leads a balanced CU scoring attack at 12.0 points per contest. Nedovic, who also posts a team-high 7.2 rebounds per game, is one of six Buffs averaging at least seven points per game. Senior point guard Veronica Johns-Richardson is averaging 11.1 points per contest and paces the Buffaloes in 3-point field goals (19), steals (25) and assists (35 ). The freshman duo of forward Jackie McFarland and center Kara Richards have nearly identical outputs, combining for 18.3 points and 11.6 rebounds per game. Richards, who has started all 12 games, has a team-best .552 shooting percentage and is averaging 9.3 points and 5.8 rebounds a contest. McFarland, a two-time Big 12 Rookie of the Week, is averaging nine points and 5.8 rebounds per game. On the outside, sophomore Jasmina Ilic averages 8.9 points per game coming off a 15-point, nine-rebound performance against the Cornhuskers. Junior shooting guard Whitney Law is sixth on the squad in the scoring column (7.4 ppg) and ranks fourth in the Big 12 in 3-point field-goal percentage at .458 (11-of-24).
