Buffaloes At Kansas In Women's Action Sunday

QUICKLY...The University of Colorado (8-13, 1-9 Big 12 Conference) travels to play the University of Kansas (10-11, 3-7 Big 12) on Sunday, Feb. 13, at 12 p.m. MST in Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kan. The game will be televised by the Metro Sports Network in Kansas but will not be available in the Boulder-Denver area.

31ST SEASON...Colorado is in its 31st season of varsity womenGÇÖs basketball sporting an all-time record of 585-326 (.642). The Buffaloes have made 12 NCAA Tournament appearances, all since 1988, including six Sweet 16 appearances and three trips to the Elite Eight (1993, 1995 & 2002).
BUFFS SEARCHING FOR SECOND LEAGUE WIN...Colorado lost its sixth straight game in Big 12 play with a 58-55 setback at home against Missouri on Feb. 9. The Buffs, who hadnGÇÖt lost six straight since the 1984-85 season, are in 12th place in the league standings at 1-9, one game behind Missouri and Oklahoma State who are each 2-8. The Buffaloes will be looking to avoid their first seven game losing streak since the 1984-85 season when they play at Kansas on Sunday. CU will also be trying to avoid double digits in league losses which hasnGÇÖt happened since a 4-12 Big 12 campaign in 1999-2000. Senior point guard Veronica Johns-Richardson has taken over the team lead in scoring (10.0 ppg) and also paces the Buffaloes in assists (66) and steals (44). Johns-Richardson has been solid from the field in league games hitting 52.1 percent from the field (37x71), fifth best in the Big 12. Sophomore forward Jasminia Ilic is second in scoring (9.8 ppg) and actually leads the Buffs in scoring during Big 12 games (11.3 ppg). Ilic also has a team-leading 26 3-point field goals. Sophomore forward Anna Nedovic tops the Buffaloes in rebounding (6.6 rpg) and is just a handful of points behind Ilic and Johns-Richardson in the scoring column averaging 9.7 per game. The freshman duo of forward Jackie McFarland and center Kara Richards have nearly identical outputs, combining for 18.5 points and 11.7 rebounds per game. Richards, who has started all 21 games, is averaging 9.3 points and 5.4 rebounds per game and is second on the squad in field-goal percentage (.468, 80x171). McFarland, a two-time Big 12 Rookie of the Week, is averaging 9.2 points and is second on the squad at 6.3 rebounds per game. Junior Whitney Law is sixth on the squad in the scoring column at 7.2 points per game and tops Colorado in both free-throw percentage (.714, 20x28) and 3-point field-goal percentage (.425, 17x40).
