BOULDER--This Wednesday, February 16, former Buff basketballer Poncho Hodges will star as the “principle character” in that evening’s episode of the long running NBC television series "Law and Order.”  The episode is titled "The Sixth Man," and Poncho's character name is Silas Inwood, a professional basketball player accused of murdering an over zealous fan

Hodges lettered two seasons at center for the Buffaloes (1991-92, 1992-93), leading the Big Eight Conference blockled shots as a senior with 58.  He averaged 12.1 points that year, and was CU's all-time blocked shots per game leader with 2.4 until David Harrison broke the record last year.

After Poncho left the University of Colorado, he was in camp with the Los Angeles Lakers for the 1993-94 preseason but was one of the final players cut.  Afterwards he played professional basketball for six years, in several of the top ranking European and Asian leagues.  Poncho retired from professional basketball in 2000, and afterwards he began pursuing a career in acting.

Since then Poncho has appeared in several independent films, a documentary, several short films, in an interactive military training film, the latter designed to instruct soldiers deployed to hot zones such as Iraq and Afghanistan in the art of urban and desert warfare.  Recently, Poncho wrapped production on a science fiction action adventure feature film "The Other Side", which is scheduled for release later this year (visit the official "The Other Side" website; http://www.entertheotherside.com/; Poncho’s character name is “OZ”).

Poncho will be in Colorado for the NBA All-Star game this Sunday and will attend the CU-Texas A&M game on Saturday at the Coors Events Center.
