PROVO, Utah ? In a battle of mountain region schools, No. 60 BYU held its own at home defeating No. 65 Colorado 7-0, Saturday afternoon in a non-conference men’s tennis match.

The Cougars improve to 5-3 and remain unbeaten against the Buffaloes all-time winning all eight dual matches. The Buffaloes drop to 4-3.

Colorado saw its lone bright spot at the No. 3 doubles portion with Marek Dvorak and Jan Zelezny taking an 8-4 winner for their third victory in four tries this dual season at that position.

“Today was a disappointing loss,” said CU head coach Sam Winterbotham. “Give credit to BYU; they competed very well and took it to us. They knew it was a big match and took it as that and we didn?t respond and crumbled under that pressure.

“The most important thing for us is how we respond tomorrow. Tomorrow will tell us what this team is and what we have in our heart.”

Colorado (4-3) remains in Utah and will take on another mountain region opponent on Sunday at the University of Utah at noon.
