Men's Tennis Takes 5-1 Win Over Idaho

BOISE, Idaho ? The University of Colorado men’s tennis team returned to the winners’ circle defeating the University of Idaho, 5-1, Sunday morning at the Boise State University.

            The Buffaloes went 1-2 over the three-day competition and improve to 8-9 on the season, while Idaho falls to 3-9.

            CU has defeated the Vandals in all four meetings and last played in 1998.

            Junior Chad Tsuda won his third straight match and continued his impressive spring play this dual season taking a three-set winner at No. 4 singles (6-4, 2-6, 7-5). The Boulder native also won his team-high 11th spring match in 14 outings. It was also Tsuda’s seventh win in his last eight matches.

            Other singles victories came from Peter Bjork  (No. 2), Marek Dvorak (No. 3), Charlie Yemm (No. 5) and Elliot Quibell (No. 6).

            The doubles competition was not played.

            Bjork took an easy 6-3, 6-2 winner breaking a three-match losing streak for his 11th win of the season, while Dvorak was also a 6-2, 6-2 winner for his 16th season triumph. Both wins for Bjork and Dvorak are their seventh of the spring.

Quibell improved his spring record to 2-0 with a 6-2, 6-4 winner at No. 6. It was Quibell’s first action since Feb. 13; and Yemm won his first collegiate tennis match against Division I competition taking a 7-5, 6-4 decision at No. 5.

Colorado continues the spring season on the road traveling to SMU on April 8 and the University of Texas on April 10.
