No. 55 CU Women?s Tennis Faces No. 52 Denver Friday
BOULDER - The University of Colorado women’s tennis team fresh off its 7-0 win on Wednesday over the Air Force Academy take on the University of Denver, Friday at 7 p.m. at the Millennium Hotel Harvest House. The Pioneers, also nationally ranked by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association are No. 52.
Tonight is the first match of the season for Denver.
The Buffs (1-0), who have fallen in their last two meetings with the Pioneers, look to return to the win column over their in-state rival. CU has won three of their last five against DU, also lead in the school series, 25-4.
This is the first of 11 nationally ranked opponents the Buffaloes will play this spring, while the Pioneers (15-3 a year ago) also boast a nationally challenging schedule with 11 ranked opponents as well. DU was No. 46 in the final ITA poll last year.
CU features three nationally ranked singles players, a school first, from the initial ITA top-100 poll released Jan. 10.
Senior Jessica Vanderdys (No. 39), freshman Monica Milewski (No. 56), and sophomore Veera Nurmi (No. 84) possess their highest rankings of their collegiate careers, all opened with victories over Air Force three days ago.
