Hawkins To Speak At Colorado NFF Banquet

BOULDER ? New University of Colorado football coach Dan Hawkins will be the featured speaker at the 13th Annual National Football Foundation (Colorado Chapter) & College Hall of Fame Scholar-Athlete Awards Banquet on Monday, February 13.
The event serves to honor both the 11 Colorado state high school scholar-athletes for 2005 as well as the 2005 All-Colorado Collegiate Football Team, as selected by members of the Colorado Chapter and the local media. All scholar-athlete winners will be present, and some of the first-team members and specialty award winners attend as well.
Colorado’s Mason Crosby was the special teams player of the year for the second straight season, as the runner-up for the Lou Groza Award was CU’s first All-American at placekicker, earning consensus honors.
Five Buffs earned first-team All-Colorado honors, including Crosby, C Mark Fenton, OLB Brian Iwuh, TE Joe Klopfenstein and DT Vaka Manupuna. Three others garnered second-team mention, S J.J. Billingsley, CB Lorenzo Sims and ILB Thaddaeus Washington, with seven named honorable mention: CB Gerett Burl, TB Hugh Charles, OG Brian Daniels, QB Joel Klatt, KR Stephone Robinson, P John Torp and VB Lawrence Vickers.
The banquet will take place at the Denver Marriott Tech Center (303-779-1100; 4900 South Syracuse Street in Denver).
