BOULDER ? The University of Colorado men’s basketball team officially tips-off the 2006-07 season on Thursday, Nov. 2 against Concordia University (Montreal, Quebec) at the Coors Events Center.

Tip is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

Concordia-Montreal is coming off a 74-50 loss at the University of Vermont on Tuesday night. The Stingers play at Colorado State on Friday.

Concordia is the fourth Canadian school the Buffs will be playing in their last two exhibition seasons. Last year, CU traveled to Vancouver and outscored three opponents by an averaged of 91.7-63.3. The Stingers are from the province of Quebec with an enrollment of 32,000 students. Last season, Concordia played seven NCAA Division I opponents, losing to all seven including Connecticut, Duke and Virginia.

The Buffaloes enter the season with a school-high eight freshmen under 11-year head coach Ricardo Patton, who announced October 25 that he is in his final year of coaching the Buffs.

The 2006-07 CU men also feature preseason All-Big 12 first team selection Richard Roby. Roby was recently named to the John R. Wooden Award All-American Team Top-50 preseason list.

The Buffs have won their last 17 exhibition games in a row. Overall they are 22-1 (.957) under Patton with their lone setback occurring Nov. 8, 1998 to the California All-Stars, 91-89. In its history, CU is 42-6 (.875) during the exhibition season.

CU’s final exhibition home game will be next Tuesday, Nov. 7 against Regis University beginning at 7 p.m.

Both the CU men and women’s teams open the regular season on Nov. 10 with a doubleheader at the CECC. The women play the University of San Francisco Dons (6 p.m.) and the men host in-state rival the University of Denver Pioneers (8:30 p.m.).
