BOULDER ? University of Colorado senior placekicker Mason Crosby was named one of 20 semifinalists for the Lou Groza Award on Thursday.

 

Crosby was the runner-up for the award in 2005 and was a semifinalist in 2003 and 2004. He also earned unanimous first-team All-Big 12 accolades the past two seasons, and in his junior campaign he was a unanimous first-team All-American.

 

This season, Crosby has hit 15-of-21 field goals with four of his six misses coming from 50 yards or beyond. He is CU’s all-time leading scorer and also holds the Big 12 record for most Player of the Week honors.

 

The three finalists for the Lou Groza Award will be announced on Monday, Nov. 20, and will be honored at the 15th Annual Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award Banquet on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at the Palm Beach Gardens Marriott. 

 

The 2006 Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award winner will be announced on Thursday, Dec. 7 during the ESPN Home Depot College Football Award Show in Orlando, Fla.
