2006 Colorado Football: Game 11 -- Iowa State

The Colorado Buffaloes (1-9, 1-5 Big 12) close out the home portion of their 2006 schedule this Saturday, hosting the Iowa State Cyclones (3-7, 0-6 Big 12) in a 1:00 p.m. MST kickoff at Folsom Field... The game will not be televised... Colorado has officially been eliminated from contention for a third consecutive Big 12 North title; ISU was eliminated two weeks ago, so the teams will battle to stay out of last place in the division. Colorado has not finished below fourth in the 10-year history of the Big 12, has not shared last place since 1984 (with the Cyclones in the old Big Eight), and has not finished last outright in conference play since 1915 (0-5 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play)... Head coach Dan Hawkins will celebrate his 46th birthday this Friday (Nov. 10), while TE Tyson DeVree will turn 22 on game day... Colorado has lost 13 of its last 14 games dating back to last November, the slide starting against the Cyclones in Ames when Iowa State used a pair of 66-yard defensive returns to break a 16-16 second half tie to win 30-16... ColoradoGÇÖs lost nine games by an average of 9.9 points, including four by five points or less... Colorado is coming off a 34-21 loss to Kansas State at Folsom, as KSU used 17 second quarter points to build a 17-0 halftime lead; the Buffs did pull to within 20-14 early in the fourth quarter but got no closer... There are about 11,500 tickets remaining for the game, which will feature the annual senior salute in the pregame introductions (Colorado has 23 seniors)...
