BOULDER ? The University of Colorado men’s tennis team won their fourth consecutive match improving to 8-3 on the season defeating Brigham Young University, 5-2, Saturday afternoon at the Millennium Hotel Harvest House.
It’s the second straight win over BYU this season and seventh victory for the Buffaloes against regional opponents this spring dual season. The Cougars have lost five straight matches and fall to 5-12.
CU rallied in the match after losing the doubles point as BYU took both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles slots for a 1-0 advantage.
Trailing 1-0, the Buffaloes made it four straight singles wins led by a pair of nationally ranked players. Peter Bjork, ranked No. 96 was one of the four student-athletes who secured points taking a straight-set winner at No. 3, 6-3, 6-2. It was Bjork’s fourth straight win.
No. 111 Jan Zelezny, who subsequently clinched the match at No. 4 was a come-from-behind winner, 5-7, 6-3, 6-0.
CU added two more singles victories with Eric Molnar (at No. 1) and Marko Bundalo (No. 2). Molnar was also a straight-set winner (6-3, 6-4), while Bundalo recorded a three-set triumph, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2. Both Molnar and Bundalo have each won four consecutive matches.

The four consecutive wins are CU’s longest win streak since starting the season with four in a row at the beginning of the 2003-04 season.
“The guys were determined and played well,” said CU head coach Sam Winterbotham. “Jan (Zelezny) came back from being a set down and that’s was good to see. Today was a good quality win over a solid regional opponent.”
The Buffs are idle until playing at the Blue-Gray Invitational in Montgomery, Ala., March 16-19. CU will be one of 16 teams playing at least three matches against the nation’s elite schools.
