Team Notes

Since conference play began back on March 26, the Buffaloes have achieved a number of feats against every opponent they have faced. Here’s a look at their match-by-match accomplishments:

at Oklahoma State (Mar. 26): Defeated then-No. 35 Cowboys, 4-3 for their first win in Stillwater since 1996, breaking a seven-match losing streak to OSU. The triumph over OSU was CU’s first road win to open Big 12 play since defeating Texas Tech back on Feb. 28, 1998.

at Oklahoma (Mar. 28): Defeated then-No. 41 Sooners, 5-2 for their first win in Norman since 2002. CU last four losses to OU were 4-3 decisions. The pair of wins on the road at OSU and OU was a school-first since the 1995-96 season that CU defeated both Oklahoma schools on the road in back-to-back matches. The Buffs began conference play with a 2-0 mark the first time since the 1996-97 campaign.

Nebraska (April 2): Defeated then-No. 53 Nebraska, 7-0 for the fifth straight time and eighth straight at home. It’s CU’s first shutout over the Cornhuskers since performing the feat twice back in 1992, 5-0.

Texas A&M (April 7): Defeated then-No.19 Texas A&M, 4-2 (doubles were not played) for the first time since 1998 (10 matches). It’s the first win over a top-20 ranked opponent since defeating then-No.15 Harvard, 4-3, March 11, 2005 (at the Blue-Gray Tennis Classic, Montgomery, Ala.).

Texas (April 9): CU made it tough against No. 3 Texas falling 5-2. The Buffs lost the deciding doubles point in a tie-breaker, and in singles lost two singles slots in three sets. CU has never beaten Texas (0-13).

Boise State (April 14): Defeated then-No. 23 Broncos, 4-3 for the first time since 1993 (nine matches). BSU had won the last eight in row.

Denver (April 23): Defeated their in-state rival for the fifth time in six meetings, 6-1 on Senior Day.

at Baylor (April 21): Baylor proved to be stronger once again winning, 6-1. BU has won last 11 in a row, however Peter Bjork upset No. 50 Matija Zgaga 7-6(9), 6-3 at No. 2 singles.
