BOULDER ? What did you do for your spring break? Among the popular destinations include Mexico, Las Vegas and the ski slopes, but for University of Colorado Head Football Coach Dan Hawkins, excitement came at about two miles above the ground.

Hawkins went skydiving in San Diego this past week with his daughters, Ashley and Brittany. The trio completed tandem jumps from 10,000 feet, the first such adventure for all three.

Upon his return to Boulder, Hawkins showed the video of his experience with his team before Monday’s practice. He said he wanted his players to learn something from his experience.

“The reason I showed it was because there are a lot of guys who say ?no way,’” he said. “But there is a way. I’m trying to get them to train their minds right.

“Leading up I was a little pensive, but I had to get my mind right over time, visualizing it and getting my thoughts together. At the time I went out (of the plane) I was totally good, 100 percent.”
