DENVER ? The University of Colorado, Qwest and Fox Sports Net Rocky Mountain will recognize Catherine Alameddin, winner of this year’s Qwest Winning Attitude promotion.  The ceremony will take place Monday, January 22 at Creighton Middle School in Lakewood starting at 12:30 p.m.

Middle school students across the state of Colorado were invited to submit a story showing how their "Winning Attitude" made a difference in their community.  Five winning entrants and their classmates won a trip to a 2006 CU home football game at Folsom Field and also a $500 contribution for their school.

Out of the five, Alameddin was selected the overall winner, as she raised money to help buy new text books for her school.  For her “Winning Attitude,” Creighton Middle School will receive a check for $1,000 for producing the grand prize winner, in addition to the $500 the school received for Catherine being one of five initial winners.

Drew Goodman will emcee the event, which will feature University of Colorado President Hank Brown, football coach Dan Hawkins and two CU student-athletes available to speak to the students.  Mike Bohn (CU athletic director),  Ric Padilla and Crystal Adams from Qwest and Tim Griggs and Amy Turner from FSN will also participate in the event.

The “Winning Attitude” program was developed to highlight how middle school students make a difference in their communities. The program, initiated by Qwest, Fox Sports Net Rocky Mountain and the University of Colorado, emphasizes that having a “Winning Attitude” is about more than winning a game; it’s about being a leader and taking initiative to make your community better, whether that community is a sports team, a classroom or a neighborhood.
