Tennis Opens Spring Season At Air Force Tuesday

The Buffaloes have never lost to the Falcons, having defeated their in-state foes all eight times dating back to 1990. Both schools have played against one another each of the last seven years.
CU enters the spring season as the No. 56 nationally ranked team and one of nine Big 12 schools among the nation’s elite 75 ranked schools.
Head coach Nicole Kenneally enters her eighth season and will be looking for her fifth straight winning campaign. She returns six letterwinners and welcomes four newcomers to the spring roster.
Five of the six returning letterwinners have at least 24 singles victories. Junior Veera Nurmi tops the roster with 48, followed by senior Martina Sedivec with 42. Junior Gleisy Torres Torres is third overall with 39. Sophomores Monica Milewski and Franziska Jendrian round out the list with 27 and 24 victories, respectively.
Nurmi enters the dual season as the 24th player in CU history on the all-time victories list.
Milewski is the lone CU singles player featured in the FILA/Collegiate Tennis Rankings as the No. 36th ranked player. She is the second highest Big 12 Conference player only behind Baylor’s Zuzanna Zemenova, who is ranked 21st. Overall, there are eight women from the conference ranked in the top-100.
Milewski ended the fall season with a 9-3 singles record and was ranked No. 86th in the initial preseason singles rankings last September.
