Jackie McFarland Repeats As An Academic All-American

BOULDER ? For the second-straight year, University of Colorado junior forward Jackie McFarland has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America University Division Women’s Basketball second team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
McFarland, an accounting major who sports a 3.95 grade point average, is one of three juniors joining a graduate student, nine seniors and one sophomore on the three Academic All-America teams. Four seniors and a graduate student make up the first team while McFarland’s seven-member second team includes five seniors and a sophomore.

A 2006 All-Big 12 second-team selection, she is one of just seven players in CU history with career numbers eclipsing 1,200 points and 700 rebounds. McFarland is 15th on CU’s all time scoring list with 1,259 and fifth in career rebounding with 738. She needs just seven rebounds to become the sixth Buff in team history to reach 300 in one season.
McFarland is one of just two players in the Big 12 with 16 or more double-doubles this season and her 35 career double-doubles rank third on the Buffs’ all-time list.
She is a four-time member of the Dean’s List, a 2006 Academic All-Big 12 selection and a team representative for the Student Athlete-Advisory Committee. She is working on a concurrent degree program in the school of business which will allow her to earn her MBA while completing her undergraduate accounting degree. Earlier this month she was selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VII first team.
