BOULDER ? The University of Colorado volleyball team is set for its first tournament of the spring season at the Gold Crown Fieldhouse in Lakewood, Colo. on Saturday, March 17. The Buffs will compete against Colorado State, Oregon and the U.S. National Team.

 

The first match of the day for CU is at 9:30 a.m. against the national team. The Buffs will face instate rival Colorado State at 11 and Oregon at 4. Admission is $3 to the event.


 

The Buffs return four starters from last season and their starting libero. Mallori Gibson and Amber Sutherland are the returning outsides, Alex Buth comes back at right side and Lauren Schaefer returns at middle blocker. Kristen Karlik is the returning starting libero.

 

Colorado is coming off a stellar season, finishing 17-12 overall and tying for fourth in the Big 12 with a 12-8 record. The Buffs were ranked 24th in the final CSTV/AVCA Division I Coaches Poll. CU was the only school to defeat the 2006 NCAA Champion Nebraska Cornhuskers on Nov. 11 in five games.
