Tennis Team Cracks Nation's Top-20

The No. 20 nationally ranking ties the program high set back in January of 1981.
The latest spring ranking comes on the heels of the Buffaloes biggest win in school history when they defeated then-No.12 and previously unbeaten William & Mary back on March 14. Ten days earlier, CU upset then-No. 14 Baylor (March 4).
CU’s 10-3 overall record is the program’s best since starting the 1998-99 season 12-3 after 15 matches.
The 5-0 Big 12 Conference beginning is also a school-best in any season.
The national singles and doubles rankings were also announced Tuesday with the Buffaloes recording one singles player and one doubles pair among the Top-125 and Top-60 polls, respectively.
Sophomore Monica Milewski returns to the Fila/ITA singles Top-125 rankings as the No. 35 ranked player. Milewski was recently named the Big 12 Conference Women’s Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks. She has won eight straight matches, including an upset of then-No. 5 Megan Moulton-Levy of William & Mary.
It’s Milewski’s highest national ranking of her career since No. 36 earlier this season from Jan. 23 - Feb. 17.
Making their first appearance in the Fila/ITA Top-60 doubles rankings is senior Martina Sedivec and freshman Melisa Esposito at the No. 55 spot.
Sedivec/Esposito are 6-0 in dual play and unbeaten against Big 12 foes with a 3-0 record. Over the course of the 2006-07 season, Sedivec has shined in the doubles court winning 15 of 17 matches, while Esposito has won 12 of 15 matches.
The Buffaloes take their new national ranking on the road for the next seven matches covering four states (Texas, California, Colorado, Kansas) beginning with No. 26 Texas A&M (Thursday, March 22) and No. 40 Texas (Saturday, March 24).
After touring the Longhorn State, CU heads to California to take on No. 13 Fresno State (Tuesday, March 26) and unranked San Francisco (Tuesday, March 27) to close out a stretch of matches that will see the Buffs play four matches in six days.
