BOULDER ? Events around the annual University of Colorado spring football weekend will commence as planned Friday, with CU officials to make decisions at the appropriate time regarding the spring storm expected to assault the Front Range between now and game time Saturday.

One change that has already been made is that the surplus and vintage equipment sale of items and authentic game worn athletic gear (i.e., jerseys) will be moved into Balch Fieldhouse instead of taking place on the stadium plaza.  The sale will take place beginning Noon on Friday (until 6 p.m.) and then Saturday from 10 a.m. through the end of the spring game, with all proceeds benefiting CU Athletics.

The annual Healthy Kids Day event is scheduled from 10:30-Noon on the Folsom Field stadium floor, where kids 13 and under are helped by current team members at various skill and fitness stations.  All activities are free, and the first 500 to complete all stations will receive a t-shirt and free food courtesy of the Outback Steakhouse.  There is a public autograph session scheduled between 11 a.m. and Noon with football and other CU athletes, also inside the stadium.

As of now these remain scheduled, but will be affected if there is a serious accumulation of snowfall.  Those interested in attending either can check CUBuffs.com Saturday morning for the status of these events.

The annual spring game will kickoff at 1 p.m.; the format will be similar to those employed in the first three major scrimmages of the spring, as since there is a shortage of offensive linemen, the team will scrimmage rather than split into two squads to simulate a game.

At halftime, CU’s two-time All-American placekicker Mason Crosby will have his jersey honored in a special ceremony, as he will be the 25th player to have his name and number enshrined on the Fred Casotti Press Box fa?ade inside Folsom Field.  The honor is bestowed on those who have earned first-team All-America status twice, and/or honored three times as a first-team All-Conference performer (or being the recipient of one of college football’s postseason trophies for being selected the best at a particular position).

For those football alumni returning for the weekend, some have hopes of playing golf Friday, while others may bowl, with the group to unite Friday evening for their annual private dinner and then again Saturday morning for a breakfast with the current CU team.
