Tennis Closes Home/Regular Season This Weekend

BOULDER ? The University of Colorado tennis team will put the wraps on the home and regular season this weekend with a pair of Big 12 Conference matches against the University of Oklahoma (Saturday, April 21) and the University of Nebraska (Sunday, April 22).
Both matches begin with the doubles competition at 11 a.m.
In case of inclement weather, both matches will be moved at the Millennium Hotel Harvest House at 11 a.m.
The Buffaloes are ranked No. 35 nationally in the latest Fila/Intercollegiate Tennis Association top-75 poll and bring a 14-6 overall record and a 7-2 conference mark into the weekend, in addition to a four-match winning steak.
The Buffs are led by sophomore Monica Milewski, the No. 35 ranked player in the ITA top-125 singles poll. Milewski, a two-time Big 12 Player of the Week recipient this season, leads CU at the No. 1 singles slot with a 15-5 dual mark and a 24-8 overall record.
Milewski is one of three CU student-athletes who have won 20 or more matches this season, a school first since 1998-99. Junior Gleisy Torres Torres is second with 23 victories followed by sophomore Franziska Jendrian with 20.
The two home matches also showcase the last for lone senior Martina Sedivec.
Sedivec, a three-year letterwinner from
Nationally ranked last month at No. 55, Sedivec/Esposito are one of four remaining undefeated doubles pairs in the Big 12 with a 7-0 record.

Match Notes: CU enters the final two home matches of the dual season with seven conference victories, the most since the 1999 spring (9-2 record) ... The last time the women’s tennis team won 14 matches, they earned a NCAA Tournament berth in the spring of 2003 ... With one more team victory, CU will have its most successful season in the win column under eight-year head coach Nicole Kenneally ... Three CU women (Monica Milewski, Melisa Esposito, Franziska Jendrian) enter the final weekend with six or more dual match victories. Back in 2005, four women recorded six or more wins ... All three doubles tandems have at least 10 triumphs in dual play: Jendrian/Milewski are 13-6 at No. 2, followed by Esposito/Sedivec at 11-2 at No. 3; and at No. 1 Torres Torres/Camila Belassi are 10-10 ...
