BOULDER ? University of Colorado men’s basketball head coach Jeff Bzdelik has announced the addition of Casey Crawford to the 2007-08 roster, announced Thursday.

 

         Crawford, a 6’9, 225-pound forward from Overland, Kan. played one season with the Wake Forest University Demon Deacons averaging 1.1 points and 0.4 rebounds per game in 27 minutes. He scored a career-high five points in 10 minutes of action last November in a loss at Air Force. Crawford was also 4-for-10 from the field, 2-for-8 from the 3-point arc with four rebounds, four assists, two blocked shots in nine games.

         Crawford will sit out the 2007-08 season per NCAA transfer rules.

 

         "I appreciate the opportunity I had to come to Wake Forest and be a part of ACC basketball," Crawford said. "I just felt like a new place and a new challenge would be best for me right now."

 

         Crawford attended Blue Valley North High School in Overland Park, Kan. where he earned four varsity letters and averaged 22 points, 10 rebounds and four blocked shots per game as a senior. He was selected the Kansas Gatorade Player of the Year in 2006, was a three-time first team all-conference selection in the Eastern Kansas League and ranks as the school’s all-time leader in scoring, rebounds and blocks.

 

         Crawford rounds out the incoming CU class for the 2007-08 season joining 6’4” guard Cory Higgins (Danville, Calif./Monte Vista HS/The Pendleton School [Bradenton, Fla.]), 6’4” guard Levi Knutson (Littleton, Colo./Arapahoe HS) and 6’11” center Caleb Patterson (Ringwood, Okla./Ringwood HS).
