CUBuffs.com will feature Q&As with several incoming freshmen throughout camp to acquaint Buff fans with CU’s newcomers. Sports Information Student Assistant Niko Strzepek caught up with freshman running back Brian Lockridge recently.

Niko Strzepek: what have you learned about your self this summer in camp?

Brian Lockridge: I learned that I am an inexperienced player right now. I have a lot to learn, and that’s the good thing about football. The coaches teach me a lot and it this is a great place for me to develop.

NS: By the time you graduate CU, what do you want people to remember you by?

BL: First, on the field I would like them to see me as a hard worker and a person who never gave up. Off the field, good grades, I’m not the one to slack off. I wan to be known for working hard and never giving up.

NS: How has camp been?

BL: It’s been real wonderful. There is a learning curve and I have a lot to learn, but that’s what camp is for, learning.

NS: How have the veterans treated you?

BL: They treat me really nice. This team is a family and I love it.

NS: When did you start playing football?

BL: I started my freshman year (of high school), but I really didn’t start playing untill my junior year and actually getting on the field.

NS: Did you participate in any other sport(s) in high school? How did the sport(s) help to play football?

BL: Track and field. I ran the 100, 200 and the 4x100. It helped with my speed.

NS: What have been the activities in your free time?

BL: Learning the plays and. As an incoming freshman you have to know the plays.

NS: What are your hobbies?

BL: Piano and the guitar. I don’t know how to read notes (laughing). But I make up songs and I have been playing for like 12 to 13 years. Playing music helps to relax my mind.

NS: How do you like the city of Boulder?

BL: I love Boulder. California is good, you get the weather and Boulder you get the nature. I am a nature guy and you’ve got the mountains in the background. I love it here and it’s a big change from California.

NS: How do you overcome challenges?

BL: First thing keep positive. Once you keep positive every else becomes easy. Never think of the negative side because it will bring you down really quick. I try to have fun and then everything goes by faster.

NS: Where would be your favorite vacation spot?

BL: Hawai’i

NS: What is your favorite movie?

BL: Gladiator, Troy and 300. I like the war movies where there is a fighter who stays positive and comes out on top.

NS: What is your favorite T.V. show?

BL: Planet Earth and Blue Planet on Animal Planet. Also, when football comes on I try to see if I can learn more about the sport.

NS: What would be your best meal?

BL: Anything with meat, anything with steak, chicken or beef and some salad, to stay healthy.

NS: What pumps you up?

BL: I am pumped up all day. What really pumps me up is the team atmosphere and when people make big plays. In general, I am always pumped up.

NS: Is there anyone who you model your life after?

BL: I’m religious and I try to form my life to be Christ-like.

NS:  What are some songs and music you have on your iPod?

BL: I listen to country, rap, classic, R&B, pretty much anything. I really like The Fray and Tim McGraw. My top three songs/artists are: When the Sky’s Go Blue-Tim McGraw, Lil’ Wayne and Pearl Jam.

NS: If you could live anywhere, where would it be?

BL: I like Boulder, but I would like to travel and do real-estate. So start in Boulder and move to the West Coast. I would like to have a big farm with horses. We’ll see what the future holds.
