BOULDER?University of Colorado linebacker Jordon Dizon was named the 2007 Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year by the Colorado chapter of the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame on Friday.  

 

The 2007 NFF All-Colorado Team was voted on by the organizations’ board members and the sports information directors from each of the 10 Colorado football institutions.

 

A consensus first team All-American, a Butkus Award runner-up, a unanimous first team All-Big 12 performer and the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, Dizon was the nation’s leading solo tackler (12) and second overall (160). He had a school record 19 third down stops and had 25 for zero or minus yardage.

 

Dizon is joined on the first team All-Colorado defense by cornerback Terrence Wheatley and defensive tackle George Hypolite. Tailback Hugh Charles, offensive lineman Tyler Polumbus and placekicker Kevin Eberhart were named to the first team offense.

 

Representing the second team from CU were quarterback Cody Hawkins, offensive lineman Kai Maiava, offensive lineman Ryan Miller and defensive tackle Brandon Nicolas. Offensive linemen Edwin Harrison and Daniel Sanders were named to the honorable mention All-Colorado team.

 

United States Air Force Academy’s Chad Hall was the unanimous choice for Offensive Player of the Year honors. Mesa State placekicker Jared Keating was named Special Teams Player of the Year and Mesa State’s Joe Ramunno was named Coach of the Year.

 

CU led the state of Colorado with 12 players named to the All-Colorado Football Team, followed by Mesa State (10), Air Force (9), Adams State (7), Colorado College (6), Colorado School of Mines (6), Northern Colorado (3), Colorado State (1), Fort Lewis (1) and Western State (1).
