CU-Southern Game Cancelled
BOULDER ? The University of Colorado women’s basketball game with Southern University scheduled for Friday, Dec. 12, has been cancelled due to inclement weather in the Southern United States.
A rare southern snow storm, which left 3-5 inches in and around the Baton Rouge area this morning, has shut down many businesses, schools and flights. Southern's travel plans were cancelled and the Jaguars were not able find travel alternatives to Boulder for Friday’s game.
The game will not be rescheduled in 2008-09.
“I am very disappointed to miss this opportunity for our young team to play tomorrow,” head coach Kathy McConnell-Miller said. “We were excited to get back to Boulder and have the chance to compete in front of our fans at the Coors Events Center. As a program, we also recognize the importance of the academic mission of our institution and will honor the practice of not rescheduling the game during the upcoming final exam period.”
Colorado, which is gearing up for finals beginning Saturday, will be back in action next Saturday, Dec. 20, at the Coors Events/Conference Center as the Buffaloes host the University of Missouri-Kansas City at 7 p.m.
CU women’s basketball season ticket holders and fans who purchased single game tickets for the Southern contest can redeem their tickets for any other game remaining on the women’s schedule. For more information, contact the CU Athletic Ticket Office at 303-49BUFFS or 800-87BUFFS.
