BOULDER ? Andre Gurode was named the starting center for the NFC Tuesday for the 2009 NFL Pro Bowl game, marking the third consecutive trip to Honolulu for the former University of Colorado All-American.

Gurode is in his seventh season in the NFL, all with the Dallas Cowboys, after being drafted in the second round (No. 37 overall pick) in 2002 and will make his second Pro Bowl start on Feb. 8 (2:30 p.m. MT on NBC).  He was named to the Pro Bowl as an injury replacement in 2007 and starter in 2008. This season, he has started all 14 games for the Cowboys and has started 46 straight games dating back to 2006.

At CU, Gurode lettered four times playing offensive guard and was a first-team All-America selection in 2001 as a senior. In 2001, Colorado won the Big 12 Championship and averaged over 200 yards rushing and passing for just the third time in school history. That season, Gurode led the Buffs in domination blocks (112), touchdown blocks (21), great pass protection plays (14) and downfield blocks (48) while allowing just one-half a quarterback sack and one quarterback pressure all season.

Gurode is one of 15 Buffs to earn a Pro Bowl nod and the sixth to appear in the Pro Bowl three or more times, joining Dick Anderson (S, Miami, 1972-73-74), Cliff Branch (WR, Oakland, 1974-75-76-77), Chad Brown (OLB, Pittsburgh, 1996; Seattle, 1998-99), Mark Haynes (CB, New York Giants, 1982-83-84) and Charlie Johnson (NT, Philadelphia, 1979-80-81).
