BOULDER ? University of Colorado guard Cory Higgins was named to the 2008 Outrigger Hotels Rainbow Classic All-Tournament Team, announced late Tuesday evening after the conclusion of the championship game.

Higgins, a 6-5 sophomore from Danville, Calif. led CU in scoring in all three games with an 18 points per game average, including his first career double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds in the Buffaloes opening night victory over Coppin State, 80-63.

CU went 1-2 in the three-day tournament falling to eventual champion Buffalo on the second day, and to Vermont on day three.

Higgins also led the team in rebounding with 18 boards, in addition to three steals and shared team honors with two blocked shots. He shot 15-of-26 from the field (.577) and made all 20 free throws attempted.

In fact, Higgins has made his last 36 free throws in a row over his last six games, three from tying the Big 12 Conference record set by Joey Graham (Oklahoma State, 2004-05).

The CU school record is also 39 set by Rob Gonzalez over a 13-game period (Jan. 10-Feb. 26, 1983).

CU is 7-5 on the season and travels to SMU to take on the Mustangs, Monday, Jan. 5 for a 6 p.m. (MST) tip. The game will be televised by FSN Rocky Mountain.
