BOULDER ? The University of Colorado and FSN Rocky Mountain signed a multiyear extension which provides the network telecast rights to CU athletic events, announced Wednesday by CU Athletic Director Mike Bohn and Tim Griggs, senior vice president and general manager of FSN Rocky Mountain. The extension gives FSN Rocky Mountain the rights to air CU programming through July 2013.
“We are honored to extend our long standing partnership with FSN Rocky Mountain,” Bohn said. “Their leadership on the local and national level continues to provide a strong platform for the University of Colorado to promote broad based programming. We look forward to continuing to feature our exemplary student-athletes, coaches and the flagship university for the state of Colorado.”
During the 2007-08 academic year, FSN Rocky Mountain will have produced nine men’s regular season basketball games, six women’s basketball games, one women’s soccer game and one women’s volleyball game. In addition, the network also airs Big 12 Conference football games, women’s basketball games and the weekly magazine production, Big 12 Showcase, as part of FSN’s national contract with the Big 12 Conference.
“CU is making significant and impacting changes to its program under Mike Bohn’s leadership,” Griggs said. “We felt it was an ideal time to revisit our partnership and renew our commitment to promote the University for the next several years.”
FSN Rocky Mountain has been the television home of the University of Colorado since 2004. The Denver-based regional sports network also has telecast rights to the Colorado Rockies, Denver Broncos, Colorado Crush, Denver Outlaws, University of Denver and Utah Jazz, as well as Big 12 football and women’s basketball, Pac-10 football and basketball and ACC basketball.
The network serves more than 2.8 million cable and satellite subscribers in Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Nebraska, Kansas and Nevada.
