BOULDER ? University of Colorado sophomore guard Xavier Silas was released from the men’s basketball team head coach Jeff Bzdelik announced Friday.

 

            Silas will remain on scholarship for the remainder of the 2007-08 academic year.

 

“In the best interest of the future of Colorado Basketball, I had to make a difficult decision and dismiss Xavier Silas from this team,” said Bzdelik.  “We wish him the very best in his future endeavors.”

 

Bzdelik will have no other comments on this issue.

 

            Silas was third in scoring averaging 9.7 points per game playing in 23 games with 19 starts. In 48 career games, Silas averaged 10.9 points per game, along with 3.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists.

 

The Buffaloes (10-15, 2-9 Big 12) travel to Columbia to take on the Missouri Tigers (14-12, 4-7), Saturday, Feb. 23 at 6 p.m. (MST).
