KANSAS CITY ? University of Colorado senior guard Richard Roby was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) second team recognizing the nation’s best men’s collegiate basketball student-athletes.

Selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC, these student-athletes represent the finest basketball players across America. The 150 student-athletes, from 15 districts, are now eligible for the State Farm Division I All-America teams to be announced on Saturday, April 5, at the 2008 NABC Convention in San Antonio.

Roby is making his second appearance on the NABC list having earned first-team honors as a sophomore.

The 6’6” senior from San Bernardino, Calif. is rewriting the Colorado record book, averaging a team-best 16.7 points per game in his final season and is on the verge of becoming only the third player in school history to lead the Buffaloes in scoring all four years.

Roby is also moving up on all-time scoring list at CU with 1,939 career points and currently sits in third place, one point from second and 56 points from top honors.

Under first-year head coach Jeff Bzdelik, this is Roby’s best season-to-date from most minutes played (991) to shooting a personal-best from the field (.479) and the 3-point arc (.410), to grabbing 186 rebounds with an average of 6.4 a game.

Roby is one of nine Big 12 players to be selected to either the first or second team.

CU wraps up the conference regular season at Nebraska, Sunday, March 9 beginning at 1 p.m. The game will be televised by Fox Sports Net Rocky Mountain.
