FORT COLLINS, Colo.?The University of Colorado track and field team had six athletes competing in the first day of the Glenn Morris Multi-Event on Thursday in Fort Collins, Colo.

 

Adam Salzmann ended the day in second place in the men’s decathlon with 3,327 points. Salzmann finished the day with the best time in the 400-meter dash with a mark of 49.97 seconds. In the 100-meter dash, the freshman ran a time of 11.54. He jumped to a mark 20 feet and 10.75 inches in the long jump and 5-10.75 in the high jump. Salzmann had the third best mark in the shot put with 32-00.75 feet.

 

Freshman Ryan Dresen was also representing the Buffs in the decathlon and finished the first day in sixth place with a total of 2,863 points. Dresen finished with the second best mark in the high jump with a mark of 6-03.50 feet and his throw of 32-02.25 in the shot put was the third best in the field.

 

On the women’s side, Chelsea Haverty led the way for the four CU women competing in the heptathlon. Haverty had her best showing in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.31?the second best finish in that event. The senior finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.38 and tied for fourth in the high jump with a mark of 5-02.5. Haverty finished the first day with 2,884 points, placing her in fourth going into the second day of events.

 

Troi Smith, Max Van Dyke and Kathleen Majewski also competed for the Buffs in the heptathlon. Smith finished in sixth place with 2,640 points and had the fourth best finish in the shot put with a mark of 37-00.25. Van Dyke and Majewski finished ninth and 10th respectively for Colorado.

 

The Glenn Morris Multi-Event will continue Friday at Colorado State University.
