IRVING, Texas ? University of Colorado senior tennis standout Gleisy Torres Torres was named one of 12 student-athletes to the Big 12 Conference Good Works Team, announced Thursday.

 

Each member institution selected a student-athlete for recognition based upon significant community service, good academic standing and participation in a Big 12-sponsored sport.

 

Torres Torres, a broadcast news major with a minor in ethnic studies was recently named to the Big 12’s academic first team for the third consecutive year. The Barquisimeto, Venezuela native, is one of only six CU women’s tennis student-athletes to earn three first team honors in the 12-year history of the conference.

 

At the end of the year tennis banquet, Torres Torres was named the team’s most valuable player recipient.

 

For the second year, the Big 12 announced a 12-person Good Works Team for the fall (cross country, football, soccer, volleyball), winter (basketball, gymnastics, swimming & diving, wrestling) and spring (baseball, golf, softball, tennis, track & field).
