About the Buff Club

The Buff Club was established in 1956 to provide scholarships and financial assistance for the University of Colorado's student-athletes and to support and promote the interest and welfare of Colorado athletics. Its 6,000 members generate over $7 million annually in educational assistance for all CU student-athletes who proudly wear the black and gold.

Buff Club members provide student-athletes with opportunities for growth and excellence both in the classroom and on the playing field. Buff Club members play a key role in building the foundation of success, by realizing that it takes more than cheering for the Buffs on Saturdays to uphold our tradition of commitment and integrity.

ONE-OF-A-KIND HELMET UP FOR BID IN ASSOCIATION WITH BARNETT FOUNDATION GOLF CLASSIC

CU Helmet Signed By Last Nine Buff Head Coaches

BOULDER ? The third annual Gary Barnett Foundation Celebrity Golf Classic is this weekend, and one of the auction items the former CU head coach was able to secure is most definitely a one-of-a-kind piece: a CU football helmet autographed by the last nine Buff coaches.

Those coaches are:

-  Sonny Grandelius (1959-1961)

-  Bud Davis (1962)
-  Eddie Crowder (1963-1973)
-  Bill Mallory (1974-1978)
-  Chuck Fairbanks (1979-1981)
-  Bill McCartney (1982-1994)
-  Rick Neuheisel (1995-1998)
-  Gary Barnett (1999-2005)
-  Dan Hawkins (2006-Present)

This is the only one in existence; the last eight coaches are still living, but Grandelius recently passed away at his Michigan home.  People can bid on it in person at the golf tournament, or visit eBay where it has also been placed for auction.

For more information on the tournament, where the proceeds go to several causes, most notably suicide prevention, visit the foundation’s website at: www.garybarnettfoundation.org and click on the golf tournament box at the bottom of the page.
