BOULDER-Nikki Marshall was named to the 2009 All-Central Region first team, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced on Tuesday.

It is the third consecutive All-Central Region first team honor for Marshall. She was an All-Central Region second team pick in 2006. Fran Munnelly is the only other CU women's soccer player to be named to the first team for three consecutive seasons (2003-05). Katie Griffin is the only other CU player to receive first team status, doing so in 2005.

Throughout Marshall's four years as a Buffalo she was named All-Big 12 Conference four times (2006-09) making her just the second player at CU to do so, Munnelly the first from 2002-05. Marshall led Colorado in scoring in 2009 with eight goals and 17 points. She is CU's all-time leader in scoring with 93 points and 42 goals. During her four years she was named CU Athlete of the Week six times and Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week on three occasions.

Eight other soccer teams in the Big 12 - Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M and Texas Tech - also had players receiving All-Central Region honors. Alongside Marshall with first team honors were goalkeeper Adrianna Franch (Oklahoma State), defender Crystal Wagner (Missouri) and midfielder Rachel Shipley (Texas A&M). These four players were also named to the 2009 All-Big 12 first team.
