Tennis Hosts Boise State, Saturday

BOULDER ? The University of Colorado tennis team will host the No. 37 Boise State Broncos, Saturday, Feb. 14 at 10 a.m. at the Millennium Hotel Harvest House Bubble.
Admission is open to the public and parking is free.
The Buffaloes (4-3) are ranked No. 47 nationally and will look to rebound from last Sunday’s 4-3 setback to Oregon. Boise State enters the match with a 6-2 record and has won four of their last five matches. The Broncos were upset by Utah, 4-3 on Thursday in Salt Lake City.
The Broncos feature junior Pichittra Thongdach, the No. 104th nationally ranked singles player.
CU features senior Franziska Jendrian, who is looking to become the school’s all-time doubles winner. She is currently tied with Jessica Garrow (1997-2000) with 69 career doubles victories. This year, Jendrian has 13 wins on the doubles court and is tied with junior teammate Camila Belassi.
At every home match throughout the spring season, the CU sports information office will feature a student-athlete Q&A. Saturday’s feature is freshman Ania Anuszkiewicz. She is a freshman from Mississauga, Ontario planning to major in integrative physiology.
CU Match Notes
Series against BSU... Colorado leads the all-time series, 5-0, having last played in 2004. Today is the first match up in Boulder since the series started in 1995. CU is 3-0 at Boise State, 2-0 at a neutral site.
chart climbers... Senior Franziska Jendrian is currently tied with Jessica Garrow (1997-2000) with 69 career doubles victories. Jendrian has won 44 spring matches and 25 in the fall. This year she has 13 wins on the doubles court, tied with junior teammate Camila Belassi.
SPRING TRIUMPHS... Sophomore Abbie Probert leads the team in dual match victories with five, followed by Belassi and Jendrian with four apiece.
OVERALL WINS... Franziska Jendrian tops the team with 18 victories for the year (78 career). Junior Melisa Esposito (54 career) and Camila Belassi (48 career) have recorded 15 and 14 wins, respectively.
DOUBLES POINT... The Buffaloes have won the doubles point four times this spring helping CU to three team wins after securing the doubles point.
NON-CONFERENCE... After Saturday’s match with Boise State, the Buffaloes will travel to Denver to take on the No. 39 Pioneers (Feb. 28). It will be CU’s last non-conference tune up before the rigors of Big 12 play beginning March 13 against Oklahoma.
NEWEST ADDITION... For those who have not heard, former tennis standout Gleisy Torres Torres has joined the coaching staff. Torres Torres graduated in May 2008 tied for 10th on the school’s all-time victories list (74) and was eighth in doubles (54). She was an eight-time Commissioners Honor Roll recipient, a three-time All-Big 12 academic first team selection, and a two-time ITA Scholar Athlete.

- The Broncos are 6-1 entering the weekend, including a 4-0 record against ITA Central Region teams.
- Freshman Lauren Megale holds a 6-1 (at No. 2) singles record this season and a 6-0 doubles record with Pichittra Thongdach.
- Thongdach owns a 5-1 singles record (at No. 1 prior to the weekend) as well as her 6-0 record with Megale and a 1-0 record with Klaudia Wlodarczyk.
- Coach Tichenor owns a 163-61 coaching record in his 10th year at Boise State.
